This course is designed to equip staff dealing with school aged children with the confidence and skills to deal with a first aid incident, and fulfill the employer's requirement to assess the first aid needs of the workplace and to ensure that adequate numbers of 'suitable persons' are provided to administer first aid. This training course will cover the following topics:

• The aims of first aiders
• The role & responsibilities of first aid trained staff
• Managing an incident
• Assessing signs & symptoms
• Dealing with minor injuries
• Recovery position
• CPR for children
• Action on choking
• Severe bleeding
• Treatment for asthma
• Treatment for shock
