An initial inspection of the building will ascertain the level of risk overall, including taking information on the type of use, number of users and likelihood of areas where these bacteria can colonise. Specific testing of the hot and cold water systems to determine the risk from legionaires bacteria will follow this and a full report on its condition will be produced.

This report will outline for you which immediate steps need to be taken, if any, what ongoing testing may be needed and, often, that no further testing is required and an audit will be arranged for yearly intervals.

If ongoing testing is required the report will follow HSE guidelines to ensure full compliance with L8 and may require certain extra tests in any particular problem areas. These results will be analysed by our biologist and any extra controls recommended. It is possible for your own staff to undertake these ongoing tests if you have the availability and they have sufficient training.
