The Health & Safety Executive require that all building owners undertake a review of their risk from the deadly Legionaires Disease. These regulations (L8) apply to all commercial buildings and require that the likely risk to employees, customers and members of the public be assessed and appropriate action taken to control that risk. Most buildings will have little or no risk from airborne Legionaires bacteria and can proceed to function without any cumbersome procedures in future. All that is required by the regulations is that a yearly audit is undertaken to ensure that conditions have not changed sufficiently to produce a risk. Other buildings, notably schools, hospitals, guest houses and hotels can have very considerable risk from Legionaires disease and should be aware of those risks. Prevention of an outbreak is fairly simple to achieve, curing the outbreak is often not possible without loss of life. PIRA can undertake all your inspections, risk assessments and strategy building to ensure you comply with the regulations and do not suffer from such an outbreak. Our team includes an Environmental Biologist with training in Toxicology and an Environmental Scientist with particular training in site monitoring.
