PIRA can offer you many services covering the many aspects of the Control of Asbestos at Work regulations (2002) from the HSE, all of which are outlined on this site. These regulations are in the process of being updated by the HSE to allow greater conformity of many regulations concerning the safety of buildings with asbestos across Europe. The types of asbestos found within buildings are split into three main groups of cancer inducing fibre. They are: Crocidolite : Blue Asbestos, the most dangerous, used for lagging pipes, heat insulation Amosite ; Brown Asbestos, used extensively for acid and fire insulation Chrysotile ; White Asbestos, most extensively used and the last one to be banned. However, these three types of naturally occurring rock fibre have been used to manufacture more than 3000 different products used extensively in building practises until 1999. Identifying these products and their asbestos content is a hazardous, specialist job which, when undertaken by untrained people, can result in exposure to asbestos fibres or the inability to maintain your buildings properly or safely. |
